Who are Marcus and Jane Buckingham? Meet Lilia Buckingham’s Parents
On April 9, 2003, in Los Angeles, California, Marcus and Jane Ruth Buckingham welcomed their daughter Lillia into the world. His parents are also writers.
Marcus is a business consultant, motivational speaker and author with British roots. First, Break All the Rules (1999) and StandOut 2.0 are just a few of the works he wrote. Jane is the author of The Modern Girl’s Guide to Life and The Modern Girl’s Guide to Sticky Situations.

Buckingham was taken into police custody on March 12 for her involvement in a scheme involving the bribing of college admissions.
Buckingham donated $50,000 to the Key Worldwide Foundation for College Counseling without his son’s knowledge or consent to set up an invigilator to take the ACT on his son’s behalf.
Buckingham provided the invigilator with an example of his son’s handwriting for him to reproduce and had his son take a practice test to make it look like his son had taken the ACT. In April, Buckingham agreed to enter a guilty plea.
US Judge Indira Talwani On October 23, 2019, the District Court sentenced Buckingham to one year probation, a $40,000 fine and 21 days in jail.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Buckingham was more deeply involved in the mechanics of the fraud than many other parents also implicated in the case, and they requested a six-month prison sentence.
They said that by having a proctor take the test instead of her son, she even deprived him of the opportunity to answer the questions correctly on his own.

While Buckingham was an undergraduate at Cambridge, Donald O. Clifton, founder of Selection Research, Inc. and professor of educational psychology, recruited him. Clifton co-founded SRI to help organizations identify talent in people and place it in the right places.
SRI acquired The Gallup Organization in 1988 and used the Gallup name. As a Gallup employee, Buckingham participated in a team creating a survey that looked at several factors influencing employee engagement.
First, in response to these surveys and thousands of interviews with management, Buckingham and author Curt Coffman published Break All the Rules (Simon and Schuster, 1999). According to its subtitle, the book describes what the best managers in the world do differently.
The book has sold over a million copies and is currently a New York Times bestseller list. It was chosen by Jack Covert and Todd Sattersten as one of the “100 Best Business Books of All Time” in their book of the same name.
