The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer is all the rage right now. The trailer gave fans a glimpse of all the main characters, especially the female Black Panther and Namor the submarine. The trailer also gives us a look at another Marvel comics villain set to appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And that’s none other than Attuma, who’s also a villain from Namor the Submarine. So let’s explore Attuma and what role he will play in the film.

In the official trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, approximately 1 minute 37 seconds, Attuma can be seen jumping out of the water, presumably from the ocean. He is seen wielding two massive spears. Attuma’s headgear, armor, and weapons appear to have been crafted from shark bone. It is part of the Talocan Empire. In fact, at first glance, Attuma may just be the movie’s villain. It looks like he’s going to cause a lot of destruction.

Attuma was born in Atlantis and was part of the kingdom. However, he was banished and exiled from Atlantis at a very young age due to his brutal and aggressive nature. In fact, he belongs to an Atlantean tribe known as the Skarka tribe. The entire tribe was exiled from Atlantis because they sought to overthrow the royal family and conquer the city. They were also considered barbarians. It was similar to how the Jabari tribe was viewed in Wakanda. In fact, these two tribes have a lot in common as they both live in isolation from the rest of the city. Another reason Attuma was banished was that a prophecy existed which claimed that a warrior would be born in the Skarka tribe and he would overthrow Atlantis and conquer the city. Eventually, Attuma grew into a ruthless, menacing, and cunning warrior.
Attuma wasn’t just a villain from Namor the Submarine. But he also battled the Fantastic Four on several occasions. Attuma attempted to conquer Atlantis while Namor was the ruler. However, he and his armies stood no chance against the Atlanteans. In fact, Namor himself defeated Attuma in a one-on-one battle. However, Namor was unaware of the fact that he was aided by Invisible Girl during his fight with Attuma. When working with Doctor Doom, he again opposed the Fantastic Four. During his run of attacking Atlantis several times, there was one time he was successful. Attuma became ruler of Atlantis.

Here are two more things fans should know about Attuma as it relates to Black Panther 2. The first is that there was an instance in the comics where Attuma and his allies found a sufficient supply of Nautilium which was a rare metal. . With this, they built a missile launcher that would destroy the earth’s surface if it exploded. This could be a possible scenario in Black Panther 2 given the mining voyages taking place in the ocean. The final point is that Attuma once came into possession of a tidal wave device. This device was capable of generating huge gigantic waves that could drown entire cities. Given the images of Wakanda awash with the throne room, this device could play a role in the film.
Tenoch Huerta insisted that Namor is not a villain. He’s a much more complex character and he’s considered an anti-hero. Namor is a sovereign charged with responsibilities and the duty to protect his kingdom and his people. So Attuma might just be the real villain of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is also very likely that Wakanda and Talocan will unite against Attuma and eventually settle their differences. This especially takes into account the long running time of the film.
