She-Hulk: Attorney at Law saw multiple characters as both heroes and villains. However, there seems to be a recurring character who has virtually no superpowers other than being rich. Yes, we are talking about Todd Phelps, the creepy dude with the She-Hulk fetish who is also a client of the firm GLK and H. He also appears in Episode 8 of She-Hulk. We’re here to determine if this is just random comic relief or something far more sinister.
Todd collects a Wakandan spear at auction
In episode 8 of She-Hulk, Todd Phelps calls She-Hulk and tells her to meet him ASAP for some urgent business. He even threatens to contact Holliway if she is not on time. When Jen meets him, it doesn’t seem like an emergency at all. Todd hangs out at a bar drinking. Here he tells her that he bought an authentic Wakandan spear. He also mentions that he has a thing for collecting “African stuff”. That might actually be a much bigger line than just being white and racist. But of course, then he makes an inappropriate advance on She-Hulk and she immediately leaves. Before that, he even showed her a picture of said spear. Given his wealth, it’s no surprise he bought it, but the real question is whether Todd collects Vibranium.
Vibranium syringe in the episode She-Hulk
At the end of episode 6 of She-Hulk, we were shown a lab where technicians followed Jen Walters and her vital signs. This is also where we saw HulkKing’s message to the anonymous mastermind. We previously hypothesized that the leader is the mastermind, but there may be more players involved. Now, in this lab, we saw metal syringes installed which would then be used to puncture Jen’s skin and extract her blood.
Now that we know Josh was only interested in Jen’s blood, this scene makes a lot of sense. We wondered how they were watching Jen during the wedding. The answer is Josh. It also makes sense that they showed the syringe right after Josh and Jen were shot. The syringe was probably the same one he then used on Jen. We hypothesize that this syringe could be made from Vibranium since most other metals would be unable to penetrate She-Hulk’s skin. This brings us back to Todd. Since he is interested in Wakandan or African artifacts, many of them must be vibranium.
What is its end goal?
Todd has shown extreme interest in She-Hulk’s powers and even referred to her as a specimen on one occasion. So it’s possible he funded the entire Intelligencia mission by taking down She-Hulk. He could also try to increase his supply of Vibranium and use some of it for syringes. Intelligence also expressed interest in Wakanda and its Vibranium in the Marvel comics. In fact, Doctor Doom was also part of this team. And we all know about Doom’s obsession with the Vibranium Reserve in Wakanda. Additionally, Todd could experiment on Jen’s blood to somehow create another Hulk or even transform into one.
This theory may seem outlandish to you. But there doesn’t seem to be any other reason for Todd to appear as often as he does if he doesn’t have a bigger role to play. However, he’s probably not the main mastermind because he doesn’t look that smart. What do you think of our theory? Let us know!
