Taika Waititi and his Thor: Love and Thunder turned out to be a disastrous project in the MCU slate. The movie got bad word of mouth among fans and turned out to be the lowest rated Thor movie as well as the second worst MCU movie. Despite a strong all-star cast, the film is accused of wasting the majority of its talent. One of the actors that fans were looking forward to the most was Russell Crowe and his Zeus.
On top of everything, Russell Crowe’s Zeus faced immediate comparison to MCU’s rival DC’s Zeus, and there’s no denying that people preferred the latter version more. In DC, Zeus was shown by Zack Snyder in his Justice League, and according to the depiction, it was the complete opposite of what Marvel did.
How is Taika Waititi’s version of Zeus completely different?

Taika Waititi love and thunder was extremely criticized for its unwarranted humor as well as the waste of potential characters. The film had a brilliant actor like Christian Bale playing the iconic Gorr, the Butcher God that Marvel couldn’t use much. The same feeling fans have for Russell Crowe who was brought in to play Zeus but turned out to be just plain comedy in the script.
After having watched Zack Snyder’s Justice League fans already had a pre-recorded idea that Zeus would be a cool, deadly warrior, but what they got was the complete opposite. In the DC version, bodybuilder Sergi Constance played the character who became a fan favorite despite having significantly reduced screen time.
While many fans have argued that the MCU Zeus is much more accurate for the Greek god. Many of them have also claimed that his age makes him look like that and he’s actually much more powerful if the comics are followed. The topic is still subject to debate as it varies from person to person. We cannot say concretely which version is better than the other.

Did the MCU dig Zack Snyder?
Some fans have also expressed their view that this decision by Taika Waititi and the MCU could allude to the studio ridiculing Zack Snyder’s Zeus. But if various sources are believed, that might not be the case as both were accurate. While Snyder showed his badass side, Taika Waititi went for the royal attitude. But, surely, the rivalry between the two fandoms will continue and the competition between the same gods in different universes is not going to stop anytime soon.

According to the end credits scene of Thor 4Zeus survived the attack and is likely to return to MCU settings one day, although we don’t know when.
