Dunes (2021) has taken moviegoers by storm as the film managed to exceed the expectations of moviegoers as well as fans of Frank Herbert’s classic book. After the resounding success of the film, it was in the natural order of things to opt for a sequel.
Florence Pugh is a new cast member who joins the franchise and has shot her scenes for the sequel, Dunes 2. There are, however, discourse relations between them such as the don’t worry darling the actress is not satisfied with her scenes.
Florence Pugh unhappy with her scenes in Dunes 2
It has been announced that Florence Pugh will play the role of Princess Irulan. The princess is the eldest daughter of the 81st Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV and Anirul, a Bene Gesserit of Hidden Rank.

In the books, she works as a de facto narrator and plays an important role in the follow-up sequels to the storyline of the Dunes universe. According to a press release published by Timothée Chalamet, the Black Widow the actress is said to be unhappy with her scenes. She begged the film’s director, Denis Villeneuve, to include more of her desert scenes, but the scenes didn’t fit the script.
“Florence tried to get Denis Villeneuve to write scenes for her in the desert [so she could continue filming], unfortunately, it doesn’t fit the script, but she did an amazing job. People will be excited.

Timothée Chalamet also said that although unsatisfied with her scenes, the actress is indeed remarkable and did a wonderful job in the role of Princess Irulan. Denis Villeneuve, the director of the first part of the film seems to be sticking to the books for an honest adaptation that would impress fans. The director apparently doesn’t want any compromise in terms of story or a change in the character arc of the Dunes universe.

Although the first part of the franchise was a hit with audiences, fans complained about the one-man narrative the story had to offer. With a heavy ensemble cast, audiences saw the first part through the eyes of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atréides. Reports have been heard of Denis Villeneuve changing the narrative by featuring other characters’ sides of the story as well. The filming of Dunes 2 started as soon as the first installment was released.
Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Dave Bautista, Rebbeca Furgerson and Stellan Skarsgård as well as many others will follow the journey of Paul Atreides by Timothée Chalamet. Dunes 2 is slated for release on November 17, 2023, in theaters worldwide.
Dunes (2021) is currently available to stream on HBO Max in the United States.
