Mark Ruffalo Reveals If He Forgave Robert Downey Jr For Ruining His MCU Debut With A Joke

Mark Ruffalo is one of the healthiest actors in Hollywood, aside from Keanu Reeves. The 54-year-old actor began his career in the 90s when he rose to prominence with a noteworthy performance in Kenneth Lonergan’s play. It is our youth. He then starred in romantic comedies like 13 Ongoing 30 and Like paradise.

But it was his debut as the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that launched him into stardom. Mark Ruffalo forgives Robert Downey Jr. for retaliatory joke

What good is a friend if he never pulls your leg? Robert Downey Jr. is one of the most well-known actors in the world, and he’s also friends with The Next Generation Hulk, Mark Ruffalo.

The two play Iron Man and Hulk in the film where they are put on the Avengers team. Apart from that, they are also very good friends in real life, and they have been for longer than you think.

Their friendship dates back to 2006-2007 when David Fincher’s mystery thriller Zodiac was being done. The two star in the film, but as Ruffalo said during a Reddit AMA, they knew each other even before filming. Zodiacand Downey Jr. is like a big brother he wishes he had.

The stars aligned a few years later when Ruffalo was cast as the Hulk in the MCUs. The Avengers, which Downey Jr. was already part of as Iron Man. Oddly enough, during Ruffalo’s introduction as the Hulk at San Diego Comic-Con in 2010, his dear friend was having fun with his intro.

During Ruffalo’s presentation as the Hulk at SDCC 2010, Downey Jr. went-

“Reprise the role of Bruce Banner, Mark Ruffalo!”

For the uninitiated, this is a dig at Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton as the Hulk. The joke here is that people were expecting Norton, but instead they got Ruffalo!

Years later, Ruffalo would address the Downey Jr. joke in an interview with BBC Radio 1. When asked if he ever forgave his friend for that joke, Ruffalo replied with a laugh –

“Yes of course.”

There are plenty of actors who have been friends for a long time, and Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo’s friendship seems to be going strong even today.

How Mark Ruffalo found out he had the role of Hulk

Mark Ruffalo is pretty high up in the hierarchy of actors loved by MCU fans right now, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. The actor played Bruce Banner for more than a decade, and he rightfully earned his place by turning in one strong performance after another.

The Restart The star replaced Edward Norton as the Hulk after the latter had to leave due to “disputes” with Marvel. Leaving that behind, Ruffalo revealed how he found out he was cast in The Hulk, and it’s almost like a scene from a movie.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton ShowRuffalo explained how his agent confirmed to him that he was the new Bruce Banner-

“I got a call from my agent one night before saying, ‘Look, look out the window at 5 a.m. If there’s a car there, you’ve got the part. The car was there!

It’s like those scenes in crime movies where clues are given to the protagonist by the murderer, a theme Ruffalo must be quite familiar with after starring in Zodiac.
