Henry Cavill had quite a few training goals as he needed to focus on both weight loss and muscle mass gain. He says his trainer, Dave Rienzi’s job has become a challenge due to his filming schedule and a lack of sleep.
“He had to find a way to lean me while gaining muscle mass without completely crushing me every day. But Dave Rienzi knows his stuff. He’s an excellent coach.
Dave Rienzi had to come up with a training program that was both effective and not too heavy. To that end, Henry Cavill was put on a program that combined bodybuilding and athletic training. With that, he focused on pre-hab moves, core training, muscle activation, and mobility. Rienzi had Cavill lift 5 days a week, while he allowed 6 days for cardio.
His trainer also focused on nutrition, making protein intake a must for his recovery. However, Dave Rienzi also made sure to time the actor’s cheat meals perfectly in order to “rebuild his body, as well as his mind.
On days when the filming location didn’t have access to any gym, Rienzi had to get creative. They would use dumbbells, resistance bands, stability balls and a TRX to achieve their daily goals. No obstacle was going to be big enough for the pair.

“But, of course, it crushes you. After eight months of filming, I was in a rather disastrous state. But we did. It was not easy. It wasn’t easy at all. »
