After the heartbreaking finale of Avengers: Endgame, fans collectively agree that the Avengers will never be the same without Robert Downey Jr. returning to play fan-favorite Iron Man. Even though Tony Stark had a fairly fitting and heroic farewell from the MCU, fans can’t help but hold out a glimmer of hope.
With the latest appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Robert Downey Jr. might have raised that hope. Joe Rogan discusses the possibility of the actor’s return to the MCU as “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist » Tony Stark.

A possible return of Robert Downey Jr.?
While talking about his hugely popular career in Hollywood, Robert Downey Jr. was asked if he would ever return to the MCU to play Iron Man and if Avengers: Endgame was really the end for the character. Unfortunately, he responded by saying that after the emotional sacrifice his character made to save all of humanity, he has absolutely no intention of making a comeback.
“For me, doing it again is not an option. I feel like I did everything I could with this character.
While Robert Downey Jr. makes a point, as fans, it’s almost unacceptable that their favorite Avenger is gone for good. Joe Rogan was absolutely right when he said people were going “pinball” if he ever made a comeback.
Robert Downey Jr. also said that for his Iron Man to return, there must be an extremely compelling argument that puts all events in a straight line.
“There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that makes it obvious. But the other thing is that I want to do other stuff.
Fans all can, but hope the writers come up with something extremely jaw-dropping so they can all see Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man on the big screen, once again.

In the interview, host Joe Rogan presents his theory of a possible Robert Downey Jr. comeback involving a time machine, to which the actor responds with a simple “great.”
“Here’s what I think, they go through some semi-dull avengers movies without you. There comes a time when the fate of the world hangs in the balance and they realized they needed a super genius. Then they figure out how to restart this time machine. You get out of this machine and the whole crowd goes crazy.
Another theory involves the multiverse. With Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man making a smash return to the box office in Spider-Man: No Coming Home, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume the same for Tony Stark. The multiverse theory could go on any tangent, including a variant of a different universe, as seen in Loki or as Kang’s soldier in the next movie Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, it’s possible that Iron Man’s return to the MCU will have the face of someone other than Robert Downey Jr. Perhaps it’s time to close the chapter on Robert Downey’s return once and for all. Jr.
