Serial killers have been a hot topic for the majority of the Gen Z crowd as documentaries and feature films surrounding their lives have been trending on streaming service platforms. Netflix’s latest TV series about notorious American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is the latest addition to a list of serial killers who have recently been thrust into the spotlight.
This newfound interest from most Netflix viewers has sprung Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story in second place for Netflix’s most-watched TV series. The trending TV series is unfortunately also the main culprit behind the growing number of viewers who have begun to idolize, or even worse, sexualize the serial killer, and they won’t budge at all to reason.

Jeffrey Dahmer Fans Strongly Defend Dahmer’s Biopic
Honestly, it’s beyond my mind how a person can learn about the wrongdoings and horrific crimes that serial killers have inflicted on their victims and their families, and then come to a point where they start idolizing monsters.
But the human mind is unique, and it’s inevitable that someone or the other will glorify the concept of serial killers, and killers too, of course. Jeffrey Dahmer is your hot new Internet serial killer, despite claiming the lives of 17 innocent people.

Twitter is currently acting as the hot social hub where fans of the serial killer are growing in increasing numbers, especially after the biopic became the second biggest English series on Netflix, and they’re everywhere-
Are people really proud of themselves for not watching a show?

They look beyond the problem-
It’s a good series…?? Where is the problem ????

A strong supporter-
Unfortunately people don’t hate to watch it’s just a good show

We are inclined to disagree-
it’s a good show 🙁

A neutral Samaritan-
It was a show well done. I can’t blame people for being interested. We make movies about real awful things all the time.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s growing fan base is concerning enough, but not nearly as concerning when you realize that people have always been into crime, and yes, serial killers too.

The mother of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims speaks out against the Netflix show
It would be heartbreaking for a family member of a murder victim to be constantly reminded of the death of their late relative, and it’s even worse when you’re the mother!
Shirley Hughes, the mother of Jeffrey Dahmer’s 12th victim, Tony Hughes, has spoken out against the depiction of her son’s death in Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Hughes’ son is deaf and mute, and also black like most of his other victims.

Tony Hughes’ mother recently spoke to The Guardian and denounced the inaccuracy of the events of the series. She first spoke about how the show openly publishes the names of the victims and their family members –
“I don’t see how they can do that. I don’t see how they can use our names and post stuff like that there.
She added in another statement saying-
“It didn’t happen that way.”
No murder victim deserves to be featured on a show like this. It’s unfortunate that Jeffrey Dahmer’s biopic was pretty inaccurate in its depiction of the events that really unfolded, and we hope all this serial killer hype ends soon.
