Velma showrunner Charlie Grandy is hoping for a Velma and harley quinn crossing in the future. Last year, HBO confirmed that they will have a spin-off series starring Velma Dinkley, one of the main cast members of scooby-doo. The adult animated show will have Mindy Kaling as the lead actress, and the character will be of South Asian descent.

Apart from Kaling, the Velma The series will also have Constance Wu as Daphne, Sam Richardson as Shaggy, and Glenn Howerton as Fred. The first trailer for Velma appeared during the panel discussion at New York Comic-Con.

Velma and Harley Quinn crossover
In an interview via comicsGrandy shared that he is ready to crossbreed with Harley Quinn. He said if Velma becomes a hit show, they plan to do a collaboration.
“If it’s a success or it takes off, there will certainly be discussions to do something about it. Again, this honors the original show, and we want to honor the original Scooby as much as possible. So it’s built into the DNA of the original. So we’re going to be looking at ways to do our part of that..”
The success of harley quinn as an anime series for adults could potentially attract viewers to support the Velma series. Both shows feature female lead characters with intriguing backstories and motifs. It would make an interesting pairing between a highly intelligent genius and a psychology expert gone off balance.

Velma as an adult animated series
According to Grandy’s comment on the Velma series, it seems that the show is still facing uncertainties regarding the reception of the public. In effect, Velma will be something new and far from the scooby-doo series that people grew up watching. The show contains gore, nudity and profanity. And, on top of that, Velma’s character was totally revamped, which got mixed reactions from the audience.

Fans will recall that Kaling addressed this issue before, saying:
“I just couldn’t understand how people couldn’t imagine a really smart, nerdy girl with terrible eyesight and who loved solving mysteries [could] to be Indian. Like, there are Indian nerds. This shouldn’t surprise people.” (via CBR)
At this stage, nothing is impossible. Velma and harley quinn crossover would definitely work with a good script and animation.
Velma will most likely arrive in 2023. Meanwhile, fans can stream the latest harley quinn episodes through HBO Max.
