With only a few days before black adam hits theaters, the hype has become almost palpable to see The Rock become the charismatic anti-hero on the big screen. After years of development, the titular antihero will finally make an appearance. However, fans are more excited about Henry Cavill’s rumored Superman appearance, which is now all but confirmed by The Rock himself. The epic showdown is arguably the biggest reason for the massive hype for the upcoming movie.
While fans are surely excited for Superman’s return, the decision to pit Black Adam against Man of Steel has left some fans unhappy. In the comics, Black Adam’s nemesis has always been Shazam, who has unfortunately been ostracized.

Black Adam has become Shazam’s permanent nemesis
However, not all of Shazam’s conflicts with Black Adam have been particularly personal. In the September 1980 issue of World’s Finest, Black Adam is recruited into a new version of the Monster’s Society of Evil, formed by the devious caterpillar, Mister Mind, with Billy Batson as his first target. There was also a major event in DC’s New 52 continuity in which Black Adam starts World War III, which Shazam ends with the help of Zatanna changing their shared magic word from “Shazam” at “Chocolate ice cream,” rendering Black Adam unable to unleash his powers once he reverts to his human form.

Why is there no Shazam Cameo in Black Adam?
Dwayne Johnson has expressed his desire to confront Metropolis protector and part-time reporter Clark Kent, aka Superman. This is in stark contrast to the comics, where Black Adam is the sworn enemy of superhero mage Shazam. Fans have started to question The Rock’s decision to fight Superman over Shazam, even though Shazam is getting a sequel titled Shazam! : The fury of the gods.
Fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions, with many suggesting that it was Dwayne Johnson’s alleged ego over Superman’s massiveness compared to Shazam that swayed DC’s decision.

Many fans are excited to see Henry Cavill as Superman, but many fans were upset because they wanted to see the showdown between Black Adam and Shazam. Fans want to see Superman team up with Shazam to fight Black Adam, but they feel the former WWE Superstar doesn’t really want to share his screen with Zachary Levi’s Shazam, at least right now. Nonetheless, The Rock has clarified in the past regarding his no-show in Shazam! (2019), as the “people’s champion” wanted to properly flesh out his Black Adam persona before battling his nemesis on the big screen.
