Matt Peter’s Batman and Superman: The Battle of the Super Sons should be released soon, before the end of the month. This animated adventure sees Jonathan Kent and Damien Wayne team up to save their superhero dads and ultimately save the day. And while DCAU has been the best part of the DC Films and Television division, not everything they offer is considered a good thing.
Recently, the trailer for Battle of the Super Sons was released, and something Superman said didn’t sit well with fans. Superman has always been a larger than life entity, someone that every person on the planet admires. And by planet, we don’t just mean the United States of America. This talk, of every incident in superhero movies only happening in certain parts of America, has been doing the rounds for a few years now. And while recent films attempt to stand beyond that American border, not everyone got the hint.

American Superman Battle of the Super Sons
Superman in the comics has always more or less tried not to get involved in political affairs. He has his own way of doing things and solving problems. But recently, it seems Superman has become another puppet of the US government – with Black Adam rumors saying that Superman is now in cahoots with none other than Amanda Waller. Now after the Battle of the Super Sons trailer, things don’t get better.

Recently, a tweet from a fan (read Zack Snyder enthusiast) gained traction. They focused on a particular dialogue from the upcoming animated film, which shows Superman as another protector of the American way.

The tweet serves as a comparison between Superman from Battle of the Super Sons with Henry Cavill’s version of the character. When Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel came out in 2012, fans were immediately captivated by Cavill’s iteration of Krypton’s Last Son. He gave us a somewhat comical version of the man in blue, who didn’t obey the law but helped the people in his own way. It showed fans that while Superman was willing to work with the military and the government, he shouldn’t be seen as just a private. He would help but in his own way.
Is Henry Cavill’s version a better Superman?
The Superman character has gone through several iterations over the years. But only a handful have really had fans rallying behind them, with Henry Cavill being one of the few. Zack Snyder’s vision, combined with Cavill’s acting skills, really made the movie something more than fans were hoping for.

Others, however, don’t really care if it’s the American way or the Snyder way. They’re just happy as long as they have Superman on their screens.
I like both, it’s like Captain America, he’s supposed to fight for America’s ideals/values โโbut isn’t a government stooge
