“Did they really dump a racist? : Madame Web publishes a photo of Sydney Sweeney alongside Dakota Johnson, the fans convinced that she plays Spider-Woman

-

Sony and Marvel Madame Web was one of their most secret projects because aside from the casting and Dakota Johnson playing the lead role, the only other thing known about the movie is that it’s set in the early 2000s.

Dakota Johnson will play the lead role in Madame Web.

However, recently, some set photos have surfaced, giving us a first look at the upcoming movie. The cast that had been announced so far includes Dakota Johnson as the lead along with Sidney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Isabela Merced and Celeste O’Conner. So far, their roles are unknown, except for O’Conner as Mattie Franklin and Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon. However, the new photos have created a row among fans over Sweeney’s casting since his entire debacle with his mother’s 60th birthday party.

Sydney Sweeney unwittingly created an uproar against her

While visiting her family for her mother’s 60th birthday celebrations, Sydney Sweeney posted photos from the party on social media, which sparked a riot among her fans. Indeed, guests who attended the event and were captured in the actress’ posts wore “blue lives matter” shirts and were accused of being racist.

This gave the Euphoria actress a lot of backlash and hate and she had tried to defend herself again and again about how her fans had made assumptions and all the allegations against her were false, to begin with.

All of social media had seemed to be against Sweeney, including his fans, all calling him a racist and then defending himself for it. This also came into play after the release of set photos for Madame Web and her presence in the film, making fans wonder if Marvel made the right casting decision or not.

New Madame Web set photos reveal first look at cast and hint at who they could star with Sydney Sweeney

Although most of the roles are unknown at this time, the set photos have allowed fans to make inferences about who might be playing which character. Besides the already confirmed roles of Dakota Johnson, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Conner, Sydney Sweeney’s role had been kept under wraps for a very long time, leading fans to wonder who she might play.

In the photos, the actress can be seen wearing a red wig, which could give the biggest hint that she’s playing Julia Carpenter, the second Spider-Woman, the second Arachne, and the second Madame Web. Sweeney’s appearance in the photos suits the actress perfectly to play her role. Although there have been theories about her possibly playing Felicia Hardy, aka Blackcat, or Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Gwen; her red hair rules out both of these options quite easily as the former is identified by her sparkling silver hair while the latter rocks her blonde hair with a headband for most of the comics.

Other than that, not much has been revealed about the film and its plot. For that, we may have to wait until 2024 when the movie is expected to be released.
