Recently, Ryan Reynolds dropped a bombshell on Marvel fans when he announced the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for the new Deadpool movie, blowing fans everywhere out of their seats. After an over-dive of rumors, it was finally confirmed that Logan was returning from retirement.
However, Hugh Jackman had made it clear in interviews after his retirement that he had no intention of reprising his role as Wolverine. We still don’t know what brought him back.

Was Ryan Reynolds Behind Wolverine’s Return?

As Hugh Jackman was unwilling to hand over the claws until last year, the reason for his return is a mystery. During a 2021 interview with Jake Hamilton on Jake’s catches, the actor talks about his role in Reminiscence. When asked which character he would like to use the memory restoration device on, Jackman immediately replied with “Wolverine.” The actor further says that as long as there is a way to erase any memory of Deadpool, Wolverine would be good to go and use the machine.
“I think of Wolverine. I think he would be terrified of using a machine, but a character who has no memory of his past would want to find out some details. I think this character would want to come back more than any other. But he would need someone very skilled to get through it, as long as any memory of Deadpool can be erased.
Fans wonder if Ryan Reynolds and his friendship with Jackman was the reason for Wolverine’s return.
Later in the same interview, when Jake Hamilton asked the x-men actor on what he plans to do with Wolverine, especially since the multiverse has become a reality. Hugh Jackman has made it clear that Wolverine will not return. He asked the host to tell everyone, especially Ryan Reynolds.
“Tell that to whoever you want. Please tell Ryan Reynolds. Because he doesn’t believe anything, he thinks I’m kidding.
This could very well mean that Ryan Reynolds was the reason for Hugh Jackman’s retaliation as a mutant with claws. It wouldn’t come as a shock since the friendly “feud” between the two actors is well-loved by fans.

Where does Dead Pool 3 Pick up from?
When Logan ended with Wolverine’s death, it broke the hearts of many fans, especially with Hugh Jackman who was so adamant about closing the Wolverine chapter. So when the announcement of his return was made, fans couldn’t help but wonder where Dead Pool 3 fits into the timeline.
Responding to this concern, Ryan Reynolds clarified that the film will not touch on what happened in Logan, which took place in 2029. The cast even “revealed” how Wolverine’s return fits into the timeline with a hilarious video in which music blasts out over the soundtrack, covering the cast’s lyrics. No spoiler will be revealed by the duo, that’s for sure!
