Marvel has done it again.
The MCU certainly has a fondness for casting some of the most unexpected actors in its movies and shows, and while audiences end up loving the characters in most cases, it seems the reactions were mixed this time around.
Rumors said that the famous star wars (1977), actor Harrison Ford would star as Thaddeus Ross, aka Thunderbolt Ross, in the next Marvel movie. However, these are no longer rumors, as the news has just become official.
Harrison Ford will play the new Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU
Initially, M reportedly announced that William Hurt would star as General Thaddeus Ross in the new MCU fantasy/sci-fi film, Love at first sight.
But with the unfortunate death of body heat actor earlier this year in July, Harrison Ford will now officially step in to play Thunderbolt Ross.

The seventh highest-grossing actor in North America, Ford has been recognized for playing popular roles in films like Indiana Jones and Blade Runner. And now he’s set to take on the role of Thunderbolt Ross, or Red Hulk, as portrayed in the Marvel comics.
Besides Ford, the Thunderbolts anti-hero team in the film will also have Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and many more.
The only predicament seems to be the mixed responses this news has garnered from Marvel fans.

Fans aren’t sure Harrison Ford is playing Thaddeus Ross
Of course, Ford is not William Hurt and no actor could replace him either. But it would also be interesting to see how the Witness star fulfills this role on screen. However, fans seem to be more uncertain than intrigued about this.

With this new information making its way into the Marvel fandom, people are taking it to Twitter to share their thoughts and feelings about it, and they don’t look exactly thrilled.
While some are ready to give Harrison Ford a chance and see how he fares in the next movie, others are downright unhappy with the casting, saying the MCU should have chosen the Relay actor, Sam Elliott instead. Fans think that because Elliott once starred as Thaddeus Ross in Pontoon (2003) and was admired for the same, he would be a much better candidate to replace William Hurt than Harrison Ford.
Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross is a fascinating cast for sure. He’s not exactly who I imagine the character to be like William Hurt and Sam Elliott did. But maybe that’s exactly the point to give the character more urgency than he had before. https://t.co/g7JkfeiwL4

Was Sam Elliott busy or what? The man wants to be Ross again!

It makes sense that fans seem to prefer Elliott over Ford, considering the former already knows Ross’ character plan, but the latter might end up impressing audiences as well.
Why not bring back Sam Elliott, he was a great Thunderbolt Ross.

I don’t know how I feel about Harrison Ford as Red Hulk if that’s true. I would have much preferred Liv Tyler as the Red Hulk or bringing back Sam Elliott and revamping his Thunderbolt Ross to fit into the MCU.

Harrison Ford seems to have some good shoes to fill, especially if he’s intent on proving people wrong and winning their hearts instead.
