Tom Ellis, best known for playing Lucifer, may soon be joining the MCU as Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. It shouldn’t be surprising that rumors about the film’s casting have started to spread now that a director has been cast and a team of writers are working on the script. According to a recent rumor, Marvel Studios is already looking for actors to complete its first family, including the actors of Lucifer and Hamilton.
Potential actors for Fantastic 4

Tom Ellis and Maddie Hasson for Fantastic 4
Maddie Hasson and Tom Ellis are rumored to be favorites to play Sue Storm and Reed Richards respectively. Additionally, Daveed Diggs is rumored to have tried out for a role, although it’s unclear for what role. Michael Provost would be the favorite to play Johnny Storm, and Jason Biggs would have tried the role of The Thing.
However, there is an intriguing mix of up-and-coming and veteran actors among these names. Hasson has contributed to numerous television programs, including Mr. Mercedes and Twisted in 2012. Ellis is best known for playing the lead role in Lucifer. Diggs, of course, had his breakthrough with Hamilton, and since then he’s amassed a pretty solid record, which now includes the upcoming Little Mermaid movie. Provost is best known for his work on the small screen, which includes Netflix’s Insatiable. Biggs has a name for playing the title character in the American Pie movies.
The release date for Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four movie has been postponed from the originally scheduled November 8, 2024 to February 14, 2025, due to Disney’s changes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe production schedule.
The Fantastic Four had three theatrical appearances; the first two, in 2005 and 2007, starred Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, or the Invisible Woman, Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. In 2015, Fox did a different iteration with a new cast, including Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell, which was released. This film received mixed reviews and a sequel never happened.
