Harry Potter Franchise actors Tom Felton and Emma Watson who play young wizards in the making, Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, have often been the subject of relationship rumours. The wishful thinking of the fans became so strong that the actor felt the need to clarify some things while promoting his new memoir, Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Chaos of a Sorcerer’s Growth.

The on-and-off relationship between Tom Felton and Emma Watson
Tom Felton and Emma Watson have always seemed in love with each other since growing up together. Having been embedded in the world of theater and Hollywood and receiving the spotlight of fame, publicity and scrutinizing paparazzi at an incredibly young age, the young cast of the Harry Potter franchise, most of whom weren’t even teenagers at the time, had to grow up quickly.

In the early upbringing they faced, the chemistry between Emma Watson and Tom Felton has always been up for debate among Potterheads. Their on-screen rivalry and off-screen friendship quickly gave way to speculation, usually about their dating. However, upon closer examination, the matter has still been a mystery, and the cast, while still seen gushing over each other, haven’t really validated these rumors beyond some measure.
“Rumors began to abound that there was more to our relationship than we let on. I denied that I liked him that way, but the truth was different. My girlfriend at the time knew right away that there was something unsaid between us. I remember using the old familiar phrase, “I love her like a sister.” But there was more than that.
Unfortunately, the couple had a tragic and anticlimactic cinematic ending to their story and never really got back together despite having feelings for each other at times in their careers.

Tom Felton reveals his “spark” with Emma Watson
In his recent memoir, Tom Felton reveals that there was indeed a spark between him and Watson, but tragically it was at different points in their relationship that they never really found the right time to be together.
“I’ve always had a secret love for Emma, but maybe not in the way people would like to hear it… That’s not to say there was never a spark between us. There certainly were, just at different times.

Although Tom Felton has fallen behind in the development arc of his Hollywood career beyond the Harry Potter universe, Emma Watson toured the world as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014. Since then, she has found the strength and stamina to shine a light on the socio-political situation of women around the world. and was a passionate activist, in addition to campaigning for the HeForShe movement. Last year, speaking to Entertainment tonight, Tom Felton claimed,
“We are something, if that makes sense. We have been very close for a long time. I love it. I think she’s fantastic. Let’s hope she returns the compliment… As far as romance goes, I think it’s a Slytherin/Gryffindor thing rather than a Tom and Emma thing.
I absolutely think the world of her. I think being part of what we’ve all been part of, but for her to be the only girl, certainly the youngest on set, to grow up with what she had to grow up with was incredibly exciting. You’re going to make me cry now, but no, I think she has a fantastic influence on the world.

Tom Felton also opened up about his stance against author JK Rowling and specifically wanted to distance himself from her after the latter’s infamous anti-trans comments went viral a few years ago. His statement comes after loud and vocal waivers from Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.
