Anya Taylor-Joy Reveals ‘Mad Max’ Spin-Off ‘Furiosa’ Has Wrapped Filming

Anya Taylor-Joy has announced that her upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road spin off Furiosa completed production.

The highly anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road spin-off movie Furiosa finished production after filming in Australia for about five months, according to its star, Anya Taylor-Joy. The film sees Taylor-Joy play the role of Furiosa, the star of road of fury who was played by Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron.

Chris Hemsworth (avengers, Extraction) and Tom Burke (man, modern love) are set to co-star with Anya Taylor-Joy. Details regarding their roles are being kept under lock and key, Warner Bros. teasing that the feature explores Furiosa’s origins before she met Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) in road of fury.

Directed by George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road is widely considered one of the best action films of the 2010s. The film grossed $375 million at the worldwide box office and was nominated for ten Academy Awards, winning six.

George Miller is back in the director’s chair for Furiosa, working from a screenplay he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Nico Lathouris. The film’s cast also includes Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson, reprising their road of fury roles of Rictus Erectus and Organic Mechanic, respectively.

Besides George Miller and Nico Lathouris, Furiosa also presents the return of Mad Max: Fury Road editor Margaret Sixel, costume designer Jenny Beavan and composer Junkie XL. The film is the fifth entry in the madmax franchise.

Furiosa is currently slated to hit theaters on May 24, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news on George Miller’s Mad Mad movies and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
