Marvel confirmed What if…? Season 2. Now the director of the animated TV series has confirmed that season 2 will bring back Cate Blanchett as Hela from Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel Studios has officially entered the animation space with What if…? in 2021. The series, directed by Bryan Andrews, premiered on August 11, 2021 on Disney+ with nine episodes. Cate Blanchett to reprise her role as Hela in What If…? Season 2
Thor: Ragnarok star Cate Blanchett is confirmed to appear in season 2 of What if…? Laughing Place, who attended the LightBox Expo, announced that Cate Blanchett will reprise her role as Hela in the upcoming season of the Marvel animated series.
The director shared his experience working with Cate Blanchett. Speaking of Australian actor Bryan Andrews, he said he was in awe of Cate Blanchett as she taped her role as Hela for an upcoming Season 2 episode.
Cate Blanchett made her first appearance in the MCU in 2017 Thor: Ragnarok. The Carol star portrays Thor’s evil sister in the film. While no details on Season 2 are available, the director claimed that fans will see Hela’s version in a way never seen before.

What if…? Season 2 picks up where the Season 1 finale left off
For the moment, the studio has not revealed any details concerning season 2 of the Disney+ series. Marvel revealed a small teaser for the second season at Comic-Con in San Diego. Bryan Andrew was unable to present anything about the series at LightBox Expo.
However, he shared some exclusive details about What if…? season 2. Besides confirming Cate Blanchett’s return, he also mentioned that season 2 would pick up where the season 1 finale left off. He also mentioned a 1988 iteration of The Avengers, saying it would be exciting to see who would make the 1988 Avengers team.

While talking about the series, the American filmmaker explained how he brought in Jeffrey Wright to voice The Watcher. He shared that he wanted to get away from the “big white man baby” picture and had a voice in his mind. It was Jeffrey Wright. Bryan Andrews also shared his experience working with the Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. He said Boseman was the first MCU actor signed on for the show and shared that he brought another level of professionalism to their recording sessions.
