Following Henry’s departure from Netflix’s Witcher show, fans rallied and started a petition to bring the actor back. After all, many believe Cavill was perfect as Geralt. The currently active petition reads as follows:
“Henry isn’t leaving The Witcher because of Superman, Netflix executives have once again made the grave decision not to deliver for their fans. Let’s show them in pure numbers (and therefore lost money, because it’s anything they really care about) that none of us Witcher fans will support them and drop the show (and potentially our subscriptions) after The Witcher Season 3 ends. the disaster that marked the end of Game of Thrones – NETFLIX is not repeating the exact same mistake of holding back writers and showrunners who believe themselves superior to the true creator of the stories that made them successful.”
The petition currently has over 77,000 signatures and is growing by the minute. You have to wonder what will be the last number on which the petition will stop. At this time, the petitioners are seeking to amass 150,000 signatures.
Why is Henry Cavill leaving Netflix’s The Witcher Show?

One of the most debated topics after Cavill’s departure was the reason for his exit. Many thought it was due to his new contract with Superman with CC. But gradually it was revealed that the cause was something else. Apparently, Cavill wasn’t happy with the writers and the direction they were taking for his character as well as the show as a whole.
Apparently, he was trying to strike a balance between the vision of the show’s writers and that of Sapkowski, the author of The Witcher novels. To add fuel to the fire, there were rumors that many of Netflix’s Witcher writers actively disliked the source books. That might not have gone over well with Cavill, a huge fan of the source material.

It is highly unlikely that Henry Cavill will reprise his role in Netflix’s Witcher series. After all, he wasn’t fired from the show. By all reports, he appears to have left voluntarily due to disagreements over direction and writing. As such, no matter how many signatures the petition garners, it is unlikely to return.
But if the petition gains traction, some of the writers could be changed and the show’s direction could be revised. However, it is best to keep these expectations in check, as it can be difficult to make such changes.
