Jon Bernthal’s Marvel entry was an event to be felt, endured and watched with reverence while the audience could do nothing but sit back and watch the blood washed away by grime and pain and pooling in the cracks forming in the fraying psyche. a man, a father and a husband. The Punisher was born out of a time when Marvel didn’t shy away from unleashing definitive and utter chaos.
It was a time of pure brilliance when the script doled out the unchecked madness of judge, jury, and executioner and turned its story into a narrative that made the Punisher more than just an anti-hero. It was the story of a Seneca tragedy.

Jon Bernthal’s Gritty Legacy as Marvel’s Punisher
The epic narrative contained in the Punisher arc is one that rivaled the legacy of Daredevil himself – whether in blood or trauma. Whenever the two were pitted against each other, the devil of Hell’s Kitchen looked like a bratty teenager who couldn’t wait to dance in the midnight rain, at least when he wasn’t busy being strapped down on a roof or be shot at. empty in the head.

The Punisher was made horribly tragic by Jon Bernthal’s personification of a man in limbo – living in the past and present simultaneously. And though the memory of his iconic walk through a hospital carrying a shotgun always makes one still, audiences willingly rooted for the guy who walked from moment to moment and memory to memory, reliving the tragedy of a slaughter, unable to escape, and unable to let go.
The solo series which was a much needed addition to the completion of his personal arc was abruptly cut short by contractual terms between Marvel and Netflix. Now that the studio has made circuits at Disney Stadium, it would only be fair if Jon Bernthal got a spot on the roster as well. With Daredevil set to make his big solo comeback (despite how much we hate the newfound zest for life), The Punisher’s story is far from over and the least Marvel can do is acknowledge the fact and to work towards a concept of The Punisher to restart.

While nothing has been confirmed since Marvel ended, the exec’s decision to greenlight a Punisher solo would certainly be more praised than criticized. Currently, Disney faces a legitimate creative clash against core Marvel ideologies rooted in tragic origin stories and gritty comic arcs. What audiences saw during the era of Marvel’s Netflix collaboration was the era of television movie adaptations. One can only hope Disney can respect that instead of panning the camera as the Punisher pulls out a butter knife.
