She-Hulk Artist Confirms Skaar’s Infamous Design Was An Attempt To Replicate Hulk’s Epic Gladiator Design From Thor: Ragnarok

-

Skaar, the son of the Incredible Hulk, was revealed in She-Hulk: Lawyer to a mixed reception. This was due to several factors. First, the reveal in the season finale came out of nowhere, with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) zooming into a spaceship in the second episode to drop in with his kids for a flashing cameo and you miss it.

The second was that Skaar’s design suggested to many comic book fans that a significant part of his comic book debut would be missing, with the character being relatively shy and clearly not keen on killing his father. On the other hand, a new piece of concept art created for the program may have solved at least one of these problems.

She-Hulk: Lawyer ended with Walters interrupting the conclusion, going to the Disney+ menu and returning to the “real world” to deal with his worries. There, she confronts the program’s creators to alter the show, and later persuades Marvel Studios’ all-powerful AI system KEVIN to rewrite the final episode’s conclusion.

In a happy epilogue, Walters is cleared of all charges and rehired by her law firm, and her parents throw a family party with Murdock as an honorary member. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) interrupts dinner to say that he has returned from the distant planet of Sakaar with his son, Skaar.

As usual with every Marvel production, some fans demand that the comics be faithfully adapted for the screen, and in Skaar’s case, they almost got what they wanted. She-Hulk artists said Skaar’s infamous design in the finale of She-Hulk was an attempt to replicate the design of the Gladiator Hulk from Thor: Ragnarok.

Skaar’s future in the MCU

Skaar was first created in Marvel Comics in 2007 during the hit Planet Hulk story arc. After being forced to fight as a gladiator for the oppressive Red King, Hulk staged a rebellion against the king and triumphed, marrying Caiera and giving birth to Skaar. Although the child’s involvement in She-Hulk: Lawyer wasn’t entirely planned, it hints at a possible second MCU Hulk movie.

Gladiator and insurgent elements of the Planet Hulk comic book plot have already been explored for the film Thor: Ragnarok, in which the Red King was replaced by the Grand Master (Jeff Goldblum). The story of Hulk and Skaar could be expanded through an adaptation of the world war hulk storyline, which Ruffalo alluded to.

Skaar’s purpose and future appearance in the MCU is unknown, as is that of his father. Due to copyright issues, the Hulk has usually appeared in other characters’ adventures or as part of the Avengers set. However, several rumors over the past year have hinted that this is about to change, and Marvel Studios will soon pick up the license to develop a standalone Hulk movie.

Many fans had anticipated that this would lead to a world war hulk narrative, and given Marvel’s current stance, it would seem like a huge mistake not to adapt what many consider to be one of the finest arcs in the company’s long history.
