The failure of the old DCEU is now a familiar story to all pop culture fans. A series of bad decisions and a toxic workspace have brought one of the world’s most incredible superhero universes almost to its doom. Without a doubt, some of this studio’s biggest casualties are Zack Snyder and David Ayer. Apparently, the visionary Snyder who took the responsibility on his shoulders to create an iconic saga also contributed to the 2016 suicide squad directed by David Ayer.
The former management of DCEU and Warner Bros. had many problems within his system. One of the major elements was the lack of creative freedom of its directors. Zack Snyder and David Ayer are the two directors who have been the worst victims. Their films were incredibly tormented by both critics and audiences only to be later revealed to be very different from what their visions actually were.
Zack Snyder also helped cut David Ayer from the Suicide Squad
Zack Snyder had a broad view of the DCEU from the time he started with the Henry Cavill vehicle Steel man. The Superman movie was replaced by Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League before the SnyderVerse fell into the abyss of fate. The release of the director of Justice League project, and then the studio’s attempts to deviate from the original story idea by introducing new director Joss Whedon were incredibly unsuccessful.

The failure of the so-called Jostice League leads to the revelation of studio intervention in the process of making a film. Fans took to social media to call out WB until they finally agreed to release the director’s original 4-hour cut years later on their HBO Max platform. This original cut was deemed far superior to the theatrical cut. But even before Snyder, the director who faced this problem was the 2016 suicide squad director David Ayer.
The film starring Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Will Smith and more was torn down by critics and audiences alike. But eventually, later, it was confirmed that the director’s original vision was quite different from what was shown. He openly explained that the film had been changed to such an extent that it had become “from apples to oranges”. Amidst all of this, in a tweet, he also explained that even Zack Snyder advised him on ideas for the film to be part of a bigger picture.

So apparently the 300 The director intended to align David Ayer’s film with the universe he was trying to set up. Now, although we have Zack Snyder’s Justice League the studio has openly announced that it will not be working on a director’s cut for director David Ayer. On top of that, we also got a soft reboot of James Gunn’s movie titled The Suicide Squad which was deemed superior to the old film. The reboot also had its own fallout Peacemaker with more waiting in line. But despite dim hopes for David Ayer’s cut, fans are still active on Twitter demanding it.

Good days for DC could be coming soon
While the complaints about the SnyderVerse and the AyerCut aren’t going to stop any time soon, the company’s new management portends a brighter future for DC. After the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, took over, things started to change. As he canceled unimportant projects, he then created an MCU-like division for DC movies called DCU. James Gunn and Peter Safran were placed at the head of the DCU.

With the return of Superman to the DCU and the confirmation of man of steel 2, fans are hoping the studio will come back stronger. Even Henry Cavill reveals in an Instagram post that this time he came back for a longer period. On the other hand, some rumors also cite that the new regime may also show interest in bringing back Zack Snyder as the director of the Superman movie.
Still, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, as the studio might now be focusing on something else rather than choosing to return to the SnyderVerse.
