And if… ? The animated show on Disney+ was the first glimpse of the multiverse fans got. We saw different timelines and universes in each episode. From the zombie Wanda to the villainous Doctor Strange and more, the show was every MCU fan’s wildest dream come true. Now, a leaked Season 2 storyboard promises the next season will be just as wild!

Leaked storyboard of What If…? Season 2 with Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch
MCU wizards include strange doctor and the Scarlet Witch. We’ve seen them on the same team in Avengers: Endgame and we’ve seen them face off in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Luckily, it looks like the two will team up again in What If…? Season 2.
The leaked storyboard above shows a rough drawing of the two Surtur fighters. We last saw the fire demon in Thor: Ragnarok, where it was prophesied that he would rain fire on Asgard. And at the end of the film, he fulfilled his role and destroyed Asgard without knowing that its inhabitants had already been evacuated.

What will make Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch fight Surtur?

Surtur and MCU Wizards have not met in the main timeline so far. But in What if…? Season 2, we might see a timeline where the three will face off. A circulating theory is that Stephen Strange and Wanda may be helping Thor when he was first captured by Surtur at the start of Thor: Ragnarok.
Another theory is that Surtur could invade Earth since the Asgardians still live there. And that might inspire Wanda and Stephen to team up. Also, in the storyboard, Wanda’s costume is not like the one she normally wears in the MCU.
So maybe this version is from another earth since our Wanda is actually “dead” for now? After all, we expect the series to stay within the MCU canon and continue the storylines already established.
Additionally, the show will follow the canon it established in its own Season 1 as we know that Peggy Carter will face Steve Rogers in season 2. So it will be interesting to see how they bring Wanda from in the first season of What If…? (in one of the timelines) she died as a zombie.
