First years

From 2010 to 2014, McSorley attended Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Virginia. He started out as a freshman in high school football. He guided the group to a 13-2 record and a state title in his rookie season.

He guided the team to a 15-0 record and its third straight state championship two seasons later, during his junior year.

The Virginia Coaches Association and Virginia Preps awarded it to First Team All-State. He received honors as a junior, including First-Team District All-Dulles, Offensive Player of the Year for the District, and Second-Team All-Region Quarterback.

Professional career

Since McSorley was a senior graduating from high school, he immediately qualified for the 2019 NFL Draft. McSorley had entered the draft a year earlier but ultimately withdrew.

McSorley had a formidable combine, recording a quarterback best time of 4.57 seconds for the 40-yard sprint, a vertical jump of 33 inches and a wide jump of 115 inches.
