House of the Dragon season 1 is over, but the fan theories about season 2 don’t stop. After all, the show has established many relationships that will be developed next season. One of them is between Ser Criston Cole and Queen Alicent Hightower. So how will their relationship evolve next season? And will it take a more romantic turn? We have a few theories.
Criston Cole and Alicent Hightower’s relationship could be romantic in season 2

Ser Criston Cole and Alicent Hightower
In House of the Dragon Season 1, we saw Alicent Hightower and Ser Criston Cole bond over their mutual hatred of Rhaenyra. The princess had lied about her virginity to Alicent even though she had slept with Criston. On the other hand, Rhaenyra had slept with Cole with no intention of marrying him. Thus, he felt used and thought he had soiled his Kingsguard oath to remain pure.
Over the course of the season, the two grew closer and many viewers of the show even commented that Criston Cole felt more like a stepdad to the children of Alicent Hightower as he taught his boys how to be. beat and generally watched them. This and many other intimate interactions could hint at a romantic relationship that could develop between the two. next season. But will it happen? We think there is a possibility.
There seems to be an unexpressed sexual tension and desire between the two. And it is possible that they act accordingly in a moment of weakness. But it doesn’t look like a relationship that will turn into a full-fledged romantic affair.
Why they won’t have a romantic relationship

Ser Criston Cole and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen
Even though there is clearly a desire between the two, with young Alicent Hightower even craving Cole, but the relationship will likely go nowhere. This is because their dynamic closely represents that of courtly love. Cole idealizes Alicent because to him she is the pious queen that Rhaenyra is not.
So if she gives in to her baser desires with Cole, as Rhaenyra did with him, it will destroy the virtuous illusion he has of her. Indeed, for him, she could end up in the same position as Rhaenyra. And so he could vilify her, as well as become violent. Also, Criston is unlikely to sully his Kingsguard oath a second time.
Also, if the two engage in a romantic affair, then it will be very hypocritical of them. After all, they would fall into the same sins of deceit and lust they had accused Rhaenyra of for so long. However, if the show goes this route, it could be a moment of character development between the two.
What do you think? Will there be a romantic relationship between Criston Cole and Queen Alicent Hightower in season 2? Let us know.
