Star Wars may be missing from the big screen, but it’s running full steam ahead on Disney+. The small screen allowed various characters in the galaxy to be further fleshed out through long storytelling. Now, after The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor, another series is joining the ranks. It’s The Acolyte. And we finally have a synopsis for it.
The synopsis of Star Wars: The Acolyte is out

After The Mandalorian season 3 and Ahsoka, The Acolyte is also a highly anticipated series. Until now, we had no concrete information about its plot, except that it took place in the High Republic. And there were rumors about Darth Plagueis to be in the show. But now an official synopsis has been released by Lucasfilm and that’s given us more to go on. It reads:
“The Acolyte is a mysterious thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of dark secrets and rising dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they ever imagined.
The cast of The Acolyte has been confirmed. We know that Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Lee Jung-jae, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman and Charlie Barnett join the cast. Recently, it was announced that Darne Keen and Carrie-Anne Moss would also be part of the cast.
What do we know about the show?

Darth Plagueis
As said before, we don’t know much about its plot. But Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy previously hinted that the show could bring back elements from the expanded universe that haven’t been canonized. She said in an interview with IGN:
“The wonderful thing about Leslye Headland is that she knows everything. I mean, she’s read a gazillion books in the expanded universe. There are little bits that she draws inspiration from that no one has yet explored in on-screen storytelling.

Point Leslye
Leslye Headland, the showrunner, had developed her show plans in an interview with The AV Club. She says:
“We are just following in George’s footsteps. He’s such a deep worshiper of cinema, and not just the medium of film, but the history of cinema and how film has been used… And that goes for ideology as well. I mean, it’s funny, because a lot of the comments I’ll get – and I use the term comments very lightly – but when I go on social media the comments are ‘Don’t make Star Wars a policy “. I say to myself: “George Lucas has made politics out of it. They are political films.
So we can definitely expect a show that delves into the politics as well as the religion of Star Wars. And considering that Headland is a big Star Wars fan, we can expect something interesting.
