With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, many other characters have been added. With Namora and Attuma, Namor has been introduced. However, Riri Williams and Aneka, a new member of the Dora Milaje, joined Team Wakanda. She was seen in the trailers wearing a particular blue outfit, which gave the impression that she would guide us towards the arrival of the Midnight Angels. And finally, that’s what happened, but the story took a turn. Compared to the original material, the MCU’s Midnight Angels are noticeably different.
Okoye the midnight angel
When Okoye fails to defeat Attuma, the people of Namor kidnap his princess, along with Riri Williams, and subject her to trials detailed in Wakanda Forever.
In response to the news, Queen Ramonda strips the general of her rank and banishes her from the Dora Milaje. Although it’s a devastating blow for Okoye because it was all for her, she doesn’t stay depressed for long.
She and newcomer Aneka are both given sleek new Midnight Angel outfits that even provide superhuman strength – a boon that will no doubt be deadly when combined with her inherent combat prowess.
She seems to act independently after the film ends and still wears her new outfit. Given that she was supposedly sent by Shuri to rescue Ross before the Black Panther split up, it seems possible that she could potentially serve as some kind of strike team for Wakanda.
Who is Aneka?
Aneka is a member of Dora Milaje in the comics. Because of the mistreatment of women in her village, she kills a Wakandan chief. Despite these complicating factors, Queen Ramonda decides to execute him. Ayo, another member of the Dora Milaje, who does not tolerate it, steals the Midnight Angels armor to free Aneka. Midnight Angel’s other piece of armor is given to him by Ayo. Aneka and Ayo are lovers and relationship partners in the comics.
In “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Aneka makes her MCU debut as the devoted Dora Milaje. She is shown to be a bit of a renegade when Okoye berates her for using custom daggers. Shuri made these daggers rather than the spear that all Dora Milaje carry. She and Okoye, whom Queen Ramonda expelled from the Dora Milaje, wear the midnight angels armor to protect Wakanda during the film’s climactic fight.
There are a few potential clues, but it’s not yet clear what Marvel’s long-term goals are for the Midnight Angels. A still-untitled Wakanda series from Marvel has already been announced for Disney+. There isn’t much information about the series other than the fact that Gurira will be reprising her role as Okoye.
