‘He’ll never quite know how much he inspired me’: Kevin Conroy receives heartfelt praise from legendary voice artist Troy Baker as ‘definitive’ Batman and gay icon dies aged 66

Kevin Conroy was an inspirational idol to many around the world. He was Vengeance, he was the Night, and he will always be Batman! His work as the Caped Crusader will forever remain iconic as no one could match the bravado and awesomeness of his portrayal. And that’s why his passing seemed truly tragic to all die-hard Dark Knight fans around the world. Even legendary voice artist Troy Baker paid tribute to the late voice artist.

Eulogy by Troy Baker

Baker himself is a bona fide star in the business as he is known for lending his voice in The last of us as Joel Miller, and many other roles in games and animation. But he was always very grateful and respectful to his old friend, Kevin Conroy. And even the late actor still showed off his respect to baker.

Now, following Conroy’s passing, Baker has paid tribute to the Batman star by thanking him. Here is what he wrote:

His was the best.
He will always be the best.
He was my Batman.
He was my friend.

He’ll never really know how much he inspired me, but I’m glad I told him every chance I got.

Thanks, Kevin.

Sleep, sleep, maybe dream…

Good to see such a nice and warm eulogy. Many Batmen may come and go, but none of them would remain as iconic as Conroy and that’s a fact!

Troy Baker wasn’t Joker’s only voice artist (Batman: The Long Halloween) who shared his sadness. Even Mark Hamill, who has always voiced Conroy’s Joker vs. Batman, took to Twitter to express his grief. Here is what he tweeted:

Their on-screen battles and behind-the-scenes camaraderie were always a treat to watch!

The list of projects where Kevin Conroy has played Batman is quite long and extensive. Starting with batman the animated series, he went on to star in dozens of other projects ranging from animated shows to video games, and even live-action. The CW’s Arrowverse has done a stellar job of bringing Conroy’s Bruce Wayne to life in a multiversal setup. And now in the next Batman: Crusader Caped TV series, Conroy actually voices Bruce’s father, Thomas Wayne. This is the last time we will hear his voice in DC space.
