The Mandalorian director teases the end of Din Djarin’s arc in season 3 “It’s the culmination of…”

The Mandalorian is a huge cultural phenomenon thanks to the connection between Grogu and Din Djarin. Now with the rumor that Season 3 premiere on February 22, 2023it looks like this bond will be tested further as Din Djarin will have to wrestle with his Mandalorian identity and this will likely be the culmination of his arc!

The Mandalorian Season 3 Will Be The Culmination Of The Din Djarin Arc

Over the course of two seasons, we’ve seen Grogu and Din sacrifice their way of life to be together. In Season 2, we saw Grogu abandon the Jedi way of life and give up training at Luke Skywalker’s academy. It was all because the The Jedi Master asked him to choose between the lightsaber and the Mandalorian armor. And Grogu chose the armor or rather Din Djarin.

The same is true for Din. When we first meet him in Season 1, he strictly follows the Mandalorian way of life. But the arrival of Grogu in his life changes that. What was originally meant to be just a job caused him to go against his guild and later even took off his helmet, which is a big taboo in Mandalorian culture.

And the repercussions of that will be felt in season 3. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Rick Famuyiwa talked about the mando and how he will have to deal with his decisions. He said:

“The exciting part of Mandalorian is that it started with this very simple, basic relationship when The Mandalorian met this young child and how it affected him. And I think all the decisions he’s made since he came into contact with The Child have kind of raised the stakes in terms of the storytelling of the show, and we’ve just been following that for kind of his place natural as he met people outside of his own belief and understood what it means to be a Mandalorian.

He further clarified that this was the culmination of his arc so far. He said:

“So as we come to season 3, it’s really kind of a culmination of that. We started with our original Mandalorian, but as the teaser says, he’s not the only one. And what does that mean? So this season is really about bringing it all together.

Mando’s Bo-Katan Problem

Din Djarin’s problems don’t end with Grogu or struggling with his identity. He also has to take care of Bo-Katan, who is after the dark saber, and this time wants to win it fairly. The Mandalorian season 3 trailer pointed out that she’s going to be one of Din’s biggest hurdles this season as she too will struggle with what it means to be a true Mandalorian.

Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan on the show, said in the same interview that:

“Going into this season, Bo has some clear ideas about who she believes to be a true Mandalorian, and I think that’s a very important starting point for her. She was raised in a way, she thinks of. a very clear way, and his knowledge of it is questioned.

The actress also hinted that there will be growth for her character:

“One of the things that I love about Bo that we’ve seen a lot this season is that she’s always growing and evolving. And I think that’s a really great lesson.

Several fan theories believe that Bo-Katan will be a foil for Mando this upcoming season, as they will both grapple with the question of what it means to be a true Mandalorian. It remains to be seen how the story ultimately unfolds and leads into Season 4 which is rumored to be start filming in early 2023.
