Dwayne Johnson’s DC movie, black adamdid decent business at the box office, but it won’t be wrong to say that it was completely overshadowed by the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This has reignited discussions about the rivalry between Marvel and DC. And Black Adam frontman Dwayne Johnson commented on this ongoing fan war.
Dwayne Johnson comments on Marvel vs. DC War
Marvel and DC are two behemoth comic book franchises. As such, they are expected to inspire fan wars akin to tribalism. And this war has been spurred on by creative, voiced commentary from both sides of the fence. Now the latest star to comment on this case is Dwayne Johnson. During an interview on iHeartRadio’s YouTube channel, he talked about the heated competition between Marvel and DC.
He said there was no war and the DCU wasn’t going after the MCU either. He said:
“I have been asked this question a lot. Are we going after… When I talk about the new era of the DC Universe with Black Adam, are we going after Marvel? That’s what I mean by that? The answer is no. We are not going to do this and me and there is no “war” between DC and between MCU. it’s my opinion.
The action star said there would only ever be one Marvel and one DC. He stated:
“Now that we’ve laid the groundwork for Black Adam for the JSA, as we usher in a new era of the DC Universe, build the DC Universe, I don’t think there’s a war, because there’s no there’s only one Marvel that will. always be one Marvel. And I say that respectfully. Kevin Feige, I love him… But also there is only one DC. And there’s only one Black Adam, and there’s only one Justice League, and there’s only one JSA. And so, I want to keep building the DC world.
He then explained his comment on Marvel and DC and said:
“I don’t want to be like Marvel, and I say that with respect. I want to be DC. I want us to be our own brand and our own identity, and we’re proud of that.
Is an MCU and DCU crossover possible?
Regarding this, the star said in the same interview that he would like the two brands to come together. He said:
“Now I’d love to see the two brands converge one day, like we did in wrestling, because that’s how we think. Because at the end of the day, what will always guide my hand and will always be my North Star is taking care of the fans… But… I think the key with brands converging in the right direction is having the right people sitting at the table, having the right conversations. down the line. There is only one Marvel. There will always be only one Marvel. But there is only one DC too.
Dwayne Johnson is listening to fans and he thinks a crossover could be possible. Interestingly, he is not the first person to say this. Previously, it was reported that DC’s new CEO, james gunn, also attempted to create a crossover between Marvel and DC, but unfortunately that didn’t come to fruition. It remains to be seen when such a crossover will materialize.
