Tom Holland was chosen to take Garfield’s place in Sony Pictures’ Captain America: Civil War in a wall-crawler reboot in conjunction with Marvel Studios.
Garfield’s stint as Spider-Man ended suddenly, but he was able to reprise the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The Amazing Spider-Man 3
A third chapter in the Marc Webb film franchise has generally been ruled out since the massive failure of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which went down well with both audiences and the box office.
However, the release of Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home changed the perception of almost all Marvel fans, as people started calling The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which would also star Andrew Garfield.

“And I was doing this – and then it was like the classic thing when you get over a relationship, and you really start to feel really free and detached from this thing – the person knows how to call the hour after the first good night’s sleep you had.
Garfield has trust issues with Sony Pictures
The main reason why Andrew Garfield might not agree to take part in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has to do with the brief falling out that developed between him and Sony.
The disappointing and underwhelming success of the second installment was only one factor in the decision not to relaunch The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. The nasty argument that occurred between Garfield and Sony was also rumored to be a factor in why he quit playing the character on screen.
Andrew Garfield was reportedly fired from the company because he was unable to attend a major social event due to illness in 2014, according to a series of emails that were leaked after a system hack from Sony.
Fans believe Garfield isn’t willing to risk Spider-Man’s future with Sony in the driver’s seat due to the studio’s apparent inability to manage a series of films responsibly, which could lead to the film becoming a huge flop.
Will The Amazing Spider-Man 3 take place?
We all know what happened with The Amazing Spider-Man Duology and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Executives attempt to cram characters and draw threads that are completely illogical. Their only goal is to increase merchandise sales.
Sources believe Garfield could well return for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 given that Marvel is heavily committed to the film as well, reducing the likelihood of Sony mishandling the Spider-Man property again. The Spider-Man franchise is also partially under the control of Marvel Studios.
