Daredevil: Born Again is what Matt Murdock fans have campaigned tirelessly for since Netflix canceled its Daredevil show. He is now about to start filming and we know the filming location as well as the fact that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio both reprise their respective roles. But we don’t have any other crucial information about the show. And this is the return of Karen Page. MCU may be looking for new love interest Matt Murdock, according to Deborah Woll.
Deborah Woll will not return for Daredevil: Born Again
In an interview with the Inside of You podcast, Deborah Woll said the MCU’s top bosses haven’t invited her to reprise her role on the show Daredevil until now. She says:
“I can say this: they haven’t called me yet. So for now, I’m not one of them. I would love to be part of it. They know where I am. Like I said, I love the character of Karen Page. I love telling this story. I feel like I have more to say. But it’s up to them to decide what kind of story they want to tell.
It’s possible that Woll will be called back as there is still time before production on the show begins. But chances are Marvel has decided to move forward without Deborah’s Karen Page. If they feature Karen again, a new actress might portray her, and she might have a completely different story.
After all, it has recently been said that Bullseye returns in Daredevil: Born Again. But it’s unclear if this will be the Netflix version or if Marvel Studios will cast someone new for the role and give the character a new backstory.
Why Born Again Might Not Recall Deborah Woll
Marvel Studios chief honcho Kevin Feige previously indicated that Daredevil: Born Again is not a direct continuation of the Netflix show. It will therefore not be a direct season 4. Same Charlie Cox teased that the show will explore the character in a new way. So it’s a fresh start with some of the old faces, but unfortunately not all of them.
But in an interview with THR, Charlie Cox said he would put in a good word for his former co-stars. Speaking specifically about Jessica Henwick, who played Colleen Wing on Netflix’s Defenders, he said:
“Yeah, she’s amazing. She is incredible. Look, I completely agree with you. I could also say that about a number of people I worked with not only on Daredevil, but also on the other shows we did there. So I don’t know what they think, but I’ll definitely put in a good word. And you are 100% right on that point. [Jessica] is great. And I got a nice text from her the other day that she read the news and was thrilled for me.
Right now, it seems that aside from Charlie and Vincent, no one else from the old series is joining the cast of the new one. But it’s also possible that since this is a fresh start for Daredevil in the MCU, he won’t have a love interest right away. So basically it’s a waiting and watching game for now.
