Phase 4 of the MCU was a dud. Or according to fans, it didn’t live up to the hype created by the previous phases. Now, all eyes are on Phase 5 in hopes that it will take over the franchise. And there’s a good chance it will, as rumor has it it’s all about exploring the multiverse. And according to rumors, we could see Iron Man again in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Rumor has it Tony Stark will be back in Avengers Secret Wars
According to the MCU Source Twitter handle, Tony Stark/Iron Man would be back in the MCU. And we can see it in Avengers: Secret Wars. But the character will no longer be interpreted by Robert Downey Jr. Apparently, it is José Garcia who will don the armor the next time we see the character.

The comments below the post note the remarkable facial resemblance Garcia shares with Downey Jr. And it’s quite possible this rumor was born because of it. Remember that apart from no official confirmation on this, other reputable scoopers have also not responded to this rumor so far. So take it with a pinch of salt.
Will we see Iron Man in Ironheart?
If Phase 5 does indeed turn out to be the multiversal saga it’s meant to be, then it’s entirely possible that we’ll see a variant of Tony somewhere down the line. And what better project to see it than in Secret Wars, where the original comic was about heroes from different teams fighting on Battleworld.
So we could see Tony interacting with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. But Secret Wars is slated for a 2026 release. We don’t think we’ll have to wait that long to see Iron Man/Tony Stark. We may see more of him in the upcoming Ironheart Disney+ series starring Dominique Thorne as the titular hero.
After all, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which introduced Thorne’s Riri Williams to the MCU, paralleled the character with that of Tony A lot of times. And in the comics, he’s the AI in his costume. Additionally, Black Panther 2 director Ryan Coogler teased that Riri Williams would have a ‘complicated connection‘ with Tony.
And he knows what he’s talking about since he also produces the show Ironheart. As such, considering all of this, it’s easy to draw the conclusion that we’ll see Tony sooner rather than later.
