‘Are they going to kill Mantis now?’ 3

MCU’s Guardians team is a much more interconnected group than you might think. Rocket and Groot used to be best friends, but now Groot is like Rocket’s adopted son. Peter Quill loves Gamora, and Gamora and Nebula were sisters. Yondu was Quill’s foster dad! Mantis and Drax used to be strangers, but now they’re best friends. We first assumed that Mantis is Quill’s half-sister, because Quill’s real father, Ego, mated with his Earth mother, with someone of the same species as Mantis. This was initially denied by James Gunn, but has now been confirmed by Marvel Legends episode Mantis on Disney+.

When Ego mated with Mantis’ mother

While Ego killed all of his descendants who did not carry the celestial light, he allowed Mantis to live while she helped him sleep. He did not raise her as his child, but rather as a pet/slave. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t Quill’s half-sister. So, it’s nice to have yet another connection within the Guardian family. But after this revelation, many fans are convinced that Marvel will kill her off in Vol. 3 to raise the film’s emotional stakes.

Fan reactions to Quill-Mantis revelations

Here, find out how Marvel fans reacted to the latest reveal:

It still made sense.

How did it happen:

This will have an impact on the flight. 3.

Didn’t James Gunn deny this?

Well, James Gunn claimed that connection was false. But he also had doubts about Adam Warlock’s appearance in Vol. 3. And then a few years later, he brought Warlock into the mix anyway. So, maybe anyone who’s thought about the connection between Mantis and Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was right after all. Mantis already has a bigger role in Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. But does this revelation mean that she would end up dying in Vol. 3? You can’t be sure because his chances of dying are much lower than Rocket’s!

Who dies in Guardians Vol. 3?

All band members have died or disintegrated at least once, with the exception of Rocket Raccoon. Groot died in Vol. 1, then her son was sprinkled Avengers: Infinity War alongside Drax, Mantis and Peter Quill. Thanos killed Gamora, but a time variant of his was introduced in End of Game. Nebula killed her own time variant. So the only one who hasn’t tasted death is Rocket Raccoon.Read also : ‘He was fully aware of my commitments’: James Gunn silences aggressive DC fans for criticizing him for Guardians of the Galaxy promotion, claims David Zaslav was aware of his loyalty

Will Rocket die?

James Gunn has promised that this film will be all about Rocket as its creator, the High Evolutionary, enters the scene. So it’s highly likely that because Gunn is so tied to Rocket, he could be the one sacrificing himself. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 just like Groot, Yondu, Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff have done in the past. But let’s just hope Gunn subverts our expectations and somehow saves it.

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special begins streaming on Disney+ on November 25. Then Vol. 3 will arrive on May 5, 2023.
