As he’s already excited to do the job for the third time, Kimmel confirms that the infamous Will Smith slapping incident will surely be part of the upcoming ceremony.

But out of all the years, the 2022 Oscars drew a huge following due to the infamous Will Smith-Chris Rock fiasco. Appearing in an interview with Extratv, the 55-year-old TV host and comedian revealed he couldn’t ignore the controversial incident even if he wanted to.

The infamous incident happened when Chris Rock commented on Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and the joke didn’t sit well with the King Richard actor. Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from a condition called alopecia areata which causes massive hair loss. Referring to Demi Moore’s unique haircut in G.I. Jane, Rock remarked:

“Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see it”

The joke didn’t sit well with the couple and Independence Day The star took to the stage and slapped Chris Rock, saying:

“Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”

This incident had a major impact on Smith’s life. He later also posted a video on his social media and apologized to the comedian.

But of course you must. Just like when they read the wrong winner one year when I hosted the Oscars, we had to mention it the next year.
