Also known by his wrestling nickname The Rock, Dwayne Johnson was a professional wrestler for almost eight years before retiring in 2004, after which WWE saw the actor make occasional and irregular appearances from time to time until in 2019. But back when he was still in the game, The Rock not only entertained his audience as a competent wrestler, but he also managed to win people over with his charismatic personality and incredible humor. A brief look at Dwayne Johnson’s wrestling career
Johnson made his wrestling debut in 1996 as Rocky Maivia, a name that honored his father and grandfather, who were both professional wrestling champions. And after winning 16 solo and tag team championships, he quickly became one of the most famous wrestlers involved in the sport.
Before becoming a box office sensation, The Rock was active as a wrestler for around 7-8 years before announcing his retirement from the profession and focusing on Hollywood instead.
