The Blue Exorcist fanatics began their wait in 2017. It’s 2022 and the only fact that gave the fans patience to wait for season three was that there was a five-year hiatus between seasons one and two.
So it’s obvious that season three of the manga is supposed to be released soon.
But is it possible that there can be a season 3? What happened after seasons one and two? When is season three coming out? Let’s find out.
Is It Official?? Blue Exorcist Season 3 Update; Is There A Possibility For Another Season?
27 volumes of the manga series have been published in Japan till now. Also, there is a spin-off of the series strictly focusing on Rin’s brother Yukio and it ended on April 3, 2020.
The author has released the latest volume of the series in Japan in July 2021. The fans are eagerly waiting for the author to announce the next part. But recently, Kazue put an 8-month halt on the series till April 2022 since she is working on some other projects.
How well did Blu-Ray and manga sales profit globally? There is a drastic change in the amount of Blu-Ray copies sold. 12,700 copies sold for season one but only 2,200 copies per disc of season two were sold.
An overall 80% reduction in sales occurred in a span of 6 years. The manga sold 230,000 copies of volume 26 and 200,000 copies of volume 27. There is not much difference in the manga sales in the market.
But the Blue Exorcist was a series that once sold 730,000 copies of volume 10. Compared to this there is an overall loss of interest in viewers and readers.
The author mentioned the series in an interview quoting it’s only half done, but the large breaks are affecting its continuity. And thus the fans are left puzzled with no official news from its creators.
The Blue Exorcist manga series was launched in 2009 and garnered success in no time. The dark fantasy series was written and illustrated by Kazue Kato.
The plot of the story centers around Rin Okumura, a teenager. The teenager and his twin brother Yukio happen to find out that they are the sons of Satan, born from a human woman.
Rin has inherited Satan’s power and joins True Cross Academy (an exorcist cram school) to be an exorcist following Satan’s murder of their guardian, Shiro Fujimoto.
In a press conference in 2016, the author announced that “I think there might be four more arcs. I have a rough storyline complete for the ending, but I haven’t figured out all of the details.
I have a few things where I’m not sure what to decide to do.” Now, it’s not certain about the anime but the manga was announced to be released in May 2022.
